Harvest Festival Celebrations at Castle Farm Retirement Home

Reverend Stephen Partridge of St Marys Church

A harvest festival is traditionally a celebration during which you give thanks for the year’s successful crop yield. Nowadays, however, it is more commonly an event where people are encouraged to celebrate the things they’re thankful for. While 2020 hasn’t exactly provided many reasons to celebrate, the residents at our elderly care home in Poole were keen to focus on the positives so we held our very own Castle Farm Retirement Home Harvest Festival.

To help with the celebrations we welcomed a visit from Reverend Stephen Partridge of St. Mary’s Church. Taking full advantage of our brand new ‘Visiting Bubble’, the Reverend provided some much-enjoyed musical entertainment. The residents had a fantastic time singing along to some of their favourite songs alongside reflecting on all of the things they are thankful for.

As part of the harvest festival and in an effort to pass on the positivity of the celebrations, Castle Farm also donated a food hamper as a gift to the local community. Lisa Barker from the fantastic Lytchett Matravers Angels, a local coronavirus community support group, collected the hamper and made sure it was distributed to those who will benefit from it.

We want to give a huge thanks to everybody involved in the harvest festival. The residents had a fabulous day and it was great to see so much positivity being spread by everyone in attendance.

You can visit the Royal Bay Facebook page to view some photos of the celebrations.

We believe a retirement home should be:

  • Where each person is an individual
  • Where there are no unnecessary rules and regulations
  • Where dignity, peace and comfort take priority
  • Where companionship, interest and activity flourishes.
  • And where people are supported to lead the fullest possible lives
