Christmas 2020 at Castle Farm Retirement Home, care home in Lytchett Matravers, was a little different this year. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions residents were unable to welcome visitors, however a fantastic celebration was still had in spite of this. The home was decked out in full, traditional Christmas decor, making it easy for everyone to get into the Christmas spirit!
The drinks were flowing as everybody enjoyed a glass or two of their favourite tipple while the early Christmas afternoon snacks were getting devoured. The residents were also glad to learn that Santa was exempt from the COVID-19 restrictions and had been allowed to visit, as they opened all of their gifts. Given the number of chocolates, biscuits and other sweet treats on display it was very clear that having a sweet tooth is not uncommon at Castle Farm!
Later in the afternoon the residents got to enjoy the main event - tucking into Christmas dinner! Accompanied by all of the essential traditions - Christmas crackers, paper hats and some truly terrible jokes - everybody had a fantastic meal courtesy of our amazing kitchen staff. Although it was a Christmas unlike those we’re all used to, nobody let that dampen their spirits and great fun was had by all.
